How did you know you were prepared as a couple to have a baby?

My wife and I have been together for 5 years and married for 2.

She is 24 and I am 26 and we are planning our first baby.

About a year ago we decided we wanted a baby, so we have been traveling a lot, spending extra time around kids, and preparing other way (replaced my car with a safer one, training our dog to be kid friendly, and doing home improvements, etc.)

We are financially set now as we finished school, bought a house, and landed stable careers a few years ago that we actually love.

We feel prepared because we are happy in our marriage and we know we are financially, mentally and emotionally stable for a family.

We really wanted to have our ducks in a row before conceiving, and we know 2007 is the year for us to have our baby!

How did you know you were prepared as a couple to have a baby?

qualifying question?

My wife has a credit score of 650, and I have a 620. We are both working on improvement of those scores. She does not have a job, I am active duty military 7+ years. We want to buy a home that costs about 180k. Annual income is about 41k. Will we qualify? Will they combine our FICO scores or just use mine since I am the only one currently working?
What is the best type of loan to get. I know to try using the VALoan. But what is best? Interest only loans? etc.

How can I get my grown son and his family to move out on their own?

He is 25, has a wife and my new granddaughter. They moved back in with us a year ago after having their own apartment for awhile. It was supposed to be to save money for putting a down payment on a house in Michigan because his work was transferring him there. Now that is not the plan anymore and they are still here. Whenever I bring up the subject of “Gee it would be nicer for you guys if you had your own place, privacy, etc.” I get him blowing up in my face about how rents are “too high” around here. .. No matter how gently I try to put it. His wife wants to move and she gets the same reaction from him. They are paying me some rent but they don’t cook or clean and they come and go without saying a word. They are both making good money so I think they can move out and get their own place. Does anybody have some suggestions on how I could bring this up without getting him to blow his top? I try to talk about this as gently and tactfully as I can.

A house that I owe 188K and is worth 185K– Divorcing?

My house is a loss, we bought it last year. Payment per month is $1900.00/ mth – I bring home $3000.00 a month and my wife is currently on a workers comp.
I have wanted a divorce for awhile, way before she stopped working. It is now time to split. I need to move out for my own health and sanity. I made a big mistake, but we all do. She refuses to put the house up for sale. She can no way afford it, any court in the land will say “sell the house” as it has no equity and its a loss. Dont forget we would have to pay closing out of pocket on it if we sell. BUT she is refusing to sell the house! Will you people help me on what approach I should use with her to make it clear that the fantasy of keeping the house is not gonna happen.

Please dont give me your an idiot answers I really need an approach on this.
1 step-child, “never adopted”, and the childs father took off without paying any child support.
