I am in the midst of a divorce and I’m trying to be civilized about the situation. Both of our names are on the mortgages, me as the primary and him as the secondary. I haved asked him to refinance the house, to which he says he can’t do and can’t afford. I then asked him to sell the house, but he refuses to do this. He says that he won’t sign the papers. If I’m the primary person on the mortgage, do I have any say in selling the house? Can I do anything without his signature?
Here’s our situation. We have been renting the same place for 10+ years and want to buy a small home that’s for sale. My fiance gets paid cash (and gets paid enough to cover the estimated mortgage). We don’t have great credit (minor flaws from probably 5+ years ago).
Obviously, I’m prepared to hear that I’m crazy for bothering. What steps should I take to improve our chances of obtaining a home? Are there any programs or loans that might give us a shot? (We’re in CT, if that helps.) We have little family and we really don’t even know who to talk to, so any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
My parents moved like 1800 miles away from home and my husband and kids and I decided to follow to just try it out and because they wanted us to so much. Well it’s been 2 yrs now and my husband has been miserable wanting to move back home and it’s wreaked a LOT of havoc on my marriage. But recently I realized I also want to move back home and we have put our house for sale and told my parents and they had a very bad reaction saying I am making a huge mistake by moving so far away from them and now the subject is NEVER mentioned.. it’s like a huge white elephant in the room all the time. I dont even really want to be around them any more because I dont feel comfortable… but yet I love them and miss the relationship we used to have. Any suggestions on how to deal with them? They just seem to be acting like it’s not even going to happen. 
And yet I dont really have the guts to bring it up because of how they are about it.

after I had a housefire awhile back and lost everything I moved to another town to start over. moved the kids in a hotel. well I finally got a job I really like but the housing situation has not improved. apt. are impossible because they charge 3 times the rent which I cant pay.houses are only for sale here. should I pack up the kids and try another town?or should I wait? this hotel thing isnt working out with 3 kids and my cats.out of options. and shelters dont work either because my oldest daughter is 18 they say she first would have to move out, which I think is crazy.
I have $3,500 total savings. $9,500 in student loans. $6,000 credit card debt.
My monthly expenses are: $1400/mortgage and $435/ 2 cars.
I’m 30 yrs old with 2 kids and make $90K a year. I can’t seem to save a dime after all bills are paid end of month. My company offers me a retirement plan. Should I sell the home and car? (home appreciated 10K and I can profit $6k from one car).
