Apartment problem!?

Ok, so there was a big storm with hail and all that great stuff on a Thursday night, well it knocked out all my windows and water and ice and glass were everywhere, well Friday it was supposed to rain again, and my apt. complex did nothing to my windows to protect my apt. from getting ruined again, so I had to put up plastic myself. So Finally on Saturday, they put plywood over my windows and here we are Tuesday and still no windows. I cant stay at my apt. because it stinks, its hot without any air on, and its just gross. I want to have my rent pro-rated but I wouldnt know under what conditions do I have the right to demand that, I think they did a very poor job in handling this situation, and I dont know where to begin in looking for a law or regulation that would allow me to have my rent lowered, any ideas?

Apartment Lease?

I currently live in an apartment, but would like to move out early. My lease is up in the middle of August, but if I pay my rent at the apartment, and it is vacant for a month or so, can the apartments do anything? (Fines, etc.?) Everything will be paid for, I will be doing double duty for a month or so……

Do I move in or bail out?

So, I think I found an apartment, but now I’m not so sure. I found a really cute place, nice roommate, great neighborhood, really cheap rent. It’s just that the apartment is really, really small. And I have a LOT of stuff. And the cost of putting things in storage is prohibitive (essentially negating the point of the cheap rent). And I’m so stressed about cramming all of my stuff in there that I’m awake with a stomachache at 12:30 in the morning. I like my stuff. I’m a nester. I like my 340 CDs, books, 56 pairs of shoes, and big comfy sofa.

But I already told the roomie that I’d move in. Should I bail on him? Move in anyway and hope for the best? Cram boxes with friends all over town? Help!
Extra detail: I can’t loft my bed, the ceiling is too low.
I like my stuff – I find familiar clutter really comforting. So I wrote the guy a really nice email saying that while I would love to live with him, I just can’t live in that apartment. I like space and I like my junk. (Especially since I’m in the middle of getting divorced, I want my security blanket of useless crap.)

I’ve never lived on my own before. What % of my take-home salary should I plan to spend on rent & utilities?

I went to see the movie “Failure to Launch” and decided to leave my parents home. I am going to get an apartment close to work to cut down on the amount of gas I’ll have to buy — have a vehicle that only gets 14 miles to the gallon. I am planning on a two bedroom apartment so I won’t have to pay to put items in storage. Also, if things get really tight, I guess I could get a roommate, but I think it’s important for me to show myself that I can live on my own. I’ll be broke, but happier, I think.
I live in Phoenix, Arizona
Right now, my rent and utilities will be 50% of my salary.

Are there any condos, or apartments for senior adults for rent?
