I have been working with a realtor and seeing houses. With him I found a neighborhood that I really like. We decided to just wait until something in that neighborhood goes on the market. I have now found two in that neighborhood, but they both for sale by owner. How do I handle this? Should I do it on my own or stick with the realtor? I’m a first time homebuyer and would like to have someone like a realtor to walk me through the process. I’m not under a contract with the realtor, but feel guilty just doing something on my own. I don’t want to miss out on the home just because of a realtor. Any ideas?

We are in the process of getting a divorce, and I have given my ex-husband written 30 days notice to remove his belongings from my apartment, as I will be moving out of state at the end of the month. He has yet to act. How can I get him to move his stuff out, legally? I cannot afford to rent the apartment for another month just for his stuff. Thanks in advance!!!!!
Guess I forgot to say this:
We are already sepereated, divorce paperwork has been filed, and he moved out over a month ago. He keeps telling me that he’ll be by “sometime” to get his stuff. The landlord has recieved written notice, and knows the situation. However, if his stuff is not out, then I lose part of my deposit. THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE GIVEN SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in the process of moving out of my apartment because the rent is increasing. The lease states that I need to give notice on the first of the month in order to leave without having to continue to paying (my lease is month-to-month right now). The landlord sent out rent increase notices on February 27th for a rent increase on April 1st. I didn’t get the notice until March 4th. If I would have received the noticed before the beginning of March I would have given notice at that time. The landlord is trying to charge me for April rent and I do not think I should pay April rent because the notice was not received before March 1st. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the notices. I will move out before the rent incrases on April 1st. I wil be out March 25th. I live in Washington, DC. I know this has a lot ot do with local laws and leases. The lease states to give notice at the beginning of the month, but I would have given notice if I had received the rent increase notice before the beginning of the month.
How long do I usually have to find a new home and settle all the escrow paperwork from the time I put my house up for sale? Lets say I put the house for sale in the middle to end of April, by whendo you estimate that all the paperwork, hassels, and everything will be settled and by when would I be at the new house? This is my first time selling my house so I have no idea on the processing time. Thanks!
