Senator Merkley Introduces Two Bills to Reform Deceptive Mortgage Practices
Today, Senator Merkley introduced two bills to protect homeowners and end deceptive mortgage practices. The first bill, “Transparency for Homeowners Act” will end secret steering payments to lenders who lead homeowners into mortgages they can’t afford. The second bill, “Promoting Mortgage Responsibility Act” ends prepayment penalties that prevent homeowners from refinancing into a more affordable loan.
