how can I find out if a d.c. home improvement license is current?

how can I find out if a d.c. home improvement license is current?

I’m thinking about starting a small business…merchant maybe, housekeeping…what should I do….?

My father owns his own electrical contracting business for 25 years. He gets his business license at the county courthouse. My mom does the taxes quarterly…and the billing, payroll, etc. I’m thinking about starting my own business. I starting selling things on eBay – as investment-type, collectibles, etc. and last month my profit exceeded my part-time job earnings, so I thought maybe I could make a business out of it…but I don’t know how. Would I need to get a merchant license and business license from my county seat, like my dad…what about the taxes, since it’s mostly out of state sales. I also do in-home housekeeping services and personal care for elderly and disabled people. My neighbor wants me to start working part-time for her, but should I get some sort of license to do that sort of work. I don’t have to be licensed right now, with my company doing the same thing. should I talk to a business lawyer or someone – Sorry I’m long-winded, Thanks for the advice – Amy

Real Estate License or Title Insurance?

should i bother getting a real estate license in California? home prices are high and owners are retarded for not lowering prices, which means when rates jack up like they will, people will get fuck-ed badly.
lots of people have adjustable rate mortgages and will end up foreclosing by the banks.
having said all that, i don’t think the real estate game is dead in CA, just going to be alot slower.

i’m not really the hold your hand type of person and i don’t like to kiss ass like all these phony real estate people do. but i do enjoy talking on the phone and making sales calls. i am a born sales man and i can sell pretty much anything to anyone.
i have been on a few open houses to look at homes and at the same time, see how these agents/brokers conduct themselves and you know it seems like feast or famine..which is normal for sales.

i heard most of the business in real estate is in the title insurance game. how does this work/process and how does one get into the title insurance racket?
