How many Christian Cathars were killed by Pope “Innocent” the 3rd?

“Pope Innocent III declared that ‘anyone who attempted to construe a personal view of God which conflicted with Church dogma must be burned without pity’. In 1208 he offered indulgences and eternal salvation, as well as the lands and property taken from the heretics, to anyone who would take up the crusade against the Cathars. This launched a brutal 30-year pogrom which decimated southern France. Twelve thousand people were killed at St Nazaire and ten thousand at Toulouse, to give just two examples.”

“The inquisitor Bernard Gui instructed that no one should argue with the unbeliever, but ‘thrust his sword into the man’s belly as far as it will go.’ At Beziers, when asked how to tell who was a Cathar and who was not, the commanding legate, Arnaud, replied, ‘Kill them all, for God will know his own.’ Not a child was spared.”

And why were these people whole sale slaughtered, because they believed in concepts like reincarnation, the feminine divine, and vegetarianism.

zorro, the Cathars very much considered themselves Christians. Just because they do not believe as many modern day fundamentalist do does not mean they were not Christians. In fact they probably were a lot closer to Christs teachings than those around them that were willing to murder in the name of God.
DougLawrence, I appreciate your response but it did not really answer my question. Did you write that piece or was it a copy and paste. Either way thanks for the info. I did not know till recently that they were vegetarians and believed an evil being created the material world.

about being sick in america?

its not my internet or computer i have never had either one of those ehings …the church i can make it to only can give me one bag of food a month and it only lasts a week if im lucky cause most of stuff i get i would have to buy other things to make it i eat peanutbutter jelly ramen and noodels an butter i cant do arts an crafts cause i cant buy supplies belive me i have thought of everything thats why i ended up here i cant get a roomate no room and not allowed any other suggjestions I barely have clothes and things like dressers i donthave either cause i lost my last living aragment cause roomate split out of that apartment and i had no one to help me move my salvation army dressers and other lil things i had i just had to pack garbage bags and walk i was lucky to find the place i rent now i just have to keep heat off cause i wouldnt be able to make it here otherwise there seems to be no help out there my worker has no other options for mesept to move to a shelter an save up cash

And what about the church across the street should they have one too?? and how about the church around the corner …
What about the pastor he should have a lear jet too if he’s got a tv ministry right??
Does it bother any christians that a lot of pastors/ teachers/ evangelists are in the self promotion business and take 5 minutes of air time thats worth about 800,000 dollars to sell themselves first and then their book?? shut up and preach the word of god..it will not return void .. whos millions are they wasting away ??…last time i read scripture it said that
1. you have no need that anyone teach you ..cept the holy spirit
2. all you need to know is in the scripture you don’t need to add to it >> there goes his book sales
3. If you want to take people on a holy land cruise of the nile for a 6 day 7 night stay in the busom of abraham .. become a travel agent or a travel guide ..
have an opinion? do me a favor and just don’t bash me…make a point that makes sense
I’ll conceed that the temple in jerusalem was worth a lotta money but we;re talking one temple.. not thousands and thousands.. jesus healed in a field are you above your master … the oil was expensive lets guess 300 bucks todays money ?? thats expensive oil .. but he was the annointed messiah all things were created for him by him and thru him and for his good pleasure are they greater than the messiah ?? he came to serve mankind .. he washed their feet and told us to do the same ru greater than your master .. the answer is no

In a small town with zoning laws a Wal Mart outgrew it’s store and elected to build a new one but didn’t have enough room. So they selected a sizable piece of land at the edge of town and built a new store there. This, of coures, left the old store vacant and for sale. It was within the city limits and zoned commercial. An existing church at the outskirts of town wanted to enlarge but had no room. They bought the empty Wal Mart building. But, when they announced what their plans were the city said, “Whoa, wait a minute. You can’t build a church there because the land is zoned commercial not religious. The church insists that they WILL build a church there. The town insists that they WON’T. Can you advise as to who is right and why
