Microsoft had their Q3 earnings conference call and this is what they had to report.
They say 3.2 million Xbox 360s were sold worldwide,1.8 million of them were sold in the U.S. alone. They also said the top 10 games that were sold in march were from the 360 ( go figure.. New console, you would hope the games were selling, I don’t think people bought the 360 as a nightlight). Anyway their was a little more news that you can view on my feed from GamePro: http://360.yahoo.com/profile-Inx4MAslfqth2qfAAcWMI6gvbmL25g–
We all know that Microsoft really wanted to impress the Japan market but their off to a slow start. Less than half of the estimated 159,000 360 consoles in stores sold in the first weekend of sales.
Sony is estimated to have an 80% share in the Japanese market. I look for Sony to clean house on that one. Sony better hope to sell plenty since Sony is said to be in a 870 million dollar hole because of the PS3. Sony is expected to lose $300 to $400 on each PS3 sold.
One More Thing To Add.
The expected loss for Sony seems to be huge, but Sony is still holding their head high and Sony expects to sell 6 million units in the first four to five months after launch. The want to expanding the platform as rapidly as possible after launch and they want to reduce manufacturing costs to get profitability at the earliest possible time. I’m pulling for Sony as usual but never overlook Nintendo. =)
