I don’t want to put it in a bank (US$235,000). I need some liquidity so no land at this stage. Should I buy gold jewellary or art. I live in Japan and there is some wonderful art for sale here. Should I buy it and sell it when I get back to the West in a few years? I gold going up or down. I have never had excess money before and I can’t just have it lying around in my apartment. Ideas please.

My father passed away 2 yrs ago, I was the beneficiary of the insurance and he put my name on the Bank account so I wouldn’t have any trouble when he did pass, he didn’t have a will and me and my brother is the only children, and my father didn’t want my brother (who is incarcerated for 20 yrs) to have access to anything. However when my father passed I did split everything with him. Now he has a small piece of land I would like to sale but I have to be power of Attorney in which I am not and he is not alive to appoint me power of Attorney. What do I do?

Figuring out if a bank will finance me to buy a second home for investment purposes. I know of a rental for sale. I don’t have a lot of liquid assets and not a lot of equity in my current home.

I can’t go through a bank for financing. My parents will be giving me the $ for the house but I still can’t use a bank. I really like one house, but no contact has been made with the owner. If it doesn’t work out with this house.. how else will I know who is more likely to do a land contract?
Signs in yards like “for sale by owner”, is that a slight indication?
