What do you think about a “Land Rover” 1999 Discovery?

I have been looking around for a car for about 5 weeks now with no luck. I have also gone to the car auction twice a week with still no luck…I saw on CraigsList.com… a 1999 Land Rover for sale and am considering purchasing. The asking price is $4,999 and I have just enough.

So now my question is do you think it is worth it?
It has 98,355 miles on it. How long do you think it will last. The car also comes with a lifetime warrenty on the engin…

My second question is that when you buy a car off the lot do you have to pay any other fees besides the asking price? Or will I leave there paying only the $4,999? I know I have to pay sales tax, but can I do that when I register the car at the DMV?

Thanks in advance for your help…

How far below asking price should I offer on a home for sale right now in the Denver area?

I’m trying to find true comps for some kind of measure, but the fact of the matter is that NOTHING has sold in the last 6 months that could be considered a comp. They’ve been for sale that long, or longer, but nothing has sold. When I bought my first house in 1995, the realtor told me that a house on the market over 120 days meant something was wrong with it. Probably the price. Does that mean that virtually all homes are overpriced right now, and the market is in the process of correcting? Do I just forget about buying right now, or make a real low offer and see what happens. I wouldn’t pay full price for a home right now, even if it were perfect.

home list price is 254,900, offer price 200K is ok based on market time?

We found a home and the asking price is $ 254,900. It has been in LIST MARKET TIME 117 days and MARKET TIME 370 days.
It’s a townhouse and the building square feet is 1056,
Land SqFt is 2630.
It was sold once in year 2000 for $158,000.

By looking at how long it has been in the market for sale and current mortgage crisis and down home values and ow much the previous buyer bought it for, Do you think I can start an offer price from $ 195K and at the maximum buy it for $ 220K?

Is that reasonable price based on the information I provided above?
You think I can get at that price.
I also intend to give that offer price and buy on inspection contingency. I mean I don’t intend to fix any repairs worth thousand or more if inspector finds such problem.
The boiler and heater not new in that home.
I keep hearing and just yesterday, home values down significantly.

What’s your advice and suggestion?

1st time home buyer. What should our offer be? Need Knowledgeable advice?

My bf and I are looking at buying we got preapproved for a loan of 184,900 which is the asking price for the loft we are intrested in.
Some History:
www.thefremont.com
The loft has been sitting since April with no buyers , the investor that bought 6 of the 92 units has 3 still avaible since April1/06.
There is still 20 something units in this building for sale.
We prefer to buy thru the investor because the realtors seem much easier to reach and get answers from.
They included the blinds ( 2 windows @ 300 dollars a peice, they are huge old mill windows) and washer and dryer ( estimated value of $1,000)
They are offering $4,000 paid towards closing cost.
The Fremont Lofts realtors that still have about 20 units open are offer Condo Fees paid for a year ( value of 1,986)
So here I ask what is the lowest we can offer without insulting them but for us to get a good deal?
The investor paid 144k for the units he bought, and he has been sitting on them since April.
We are putting down only 5% as first time home buyers it is pretty tough to put down more..

When you buy a house, do you usually give the asking price, above the asking or how do you know?

I went to tour a house about 6 months ago. The owner clearly was way over priced on the house and he was showing it on his own for his parents who were placed in a nursing home. I loved the house and the area it was in, He was just way over priced.
The house had no appliances, nothing to upgrade it except for some windows which were placed about 10 years ago. For crimeny sakes he put indoor outdoor carpet in the kitchen and the light fixtures looked like something out of the 50′s which was the time the house was built. He had painted everything white even the kitchen cabinets.
I was still looking for a house when I noticed this same house for sale by a realtor on the internet for &150 thousand. The guy must have given up and listed it with a realtor.
So now what do I do? Do I have someone look over the house to see if it is worth that much money. How soon in the game do you make an offer? I would hate to committ to an offer and find out there are some real problems
The first listing by the owner was $180 thousand, now it is $150 thousand
