Need business advice from a global investment banker?

I have a close friend for 15 years. He is a Russian guy. I am an American who speaks Russian. I helped him to get his company started by giving him a loan. He paid it back with interest. Now the company has over 100 million in sales and about 15 million in profit. The book value is huge because he bought assets in 1999 and now they have appreciated immensely.. he owns 1 million acres of land in Russia! The guy is magic and knows how to build a business. There is huge organic growth and a pipeline of acquistions that is more than full.

He asked me to help him raise more capital. I am doing this with major investment banks in Moscow. They are dying to loan to him. He will get at least 200 million USD.

Should I approach him about compensation or equity? If so, how ? I asked him for a small % and he said “I will think about it”. Things are getting serious and I am wondering whether to ask him again or just trust him.

What was the best and worst thing that happened to you today?

For me, the best thing was that I got the sweaters I ordered from American Eagle online in the mail (I’ve been waiting a week on them.) By the way, they are having a great clearance sale, so you should check it out.

The worst was that today, I slipped on a patch of black ice. I was holding my son and thank God, I kept a firm grip on him. Unfortunatley, I landed right on my knee, which is swollen beyond belief and is extremely painful. I’m now doped up on pain medication, which makes me pretty much braindead.

What happened to YOU today?
Thanks for all the well wishes! I’m just glad my son was okay!
Hahaha! Wabby, that may take the cake for the best thing to happen to me this year! *LOL* I’ll have to save that one.

By the way everyone I don’t know if the stores are having a sale but the website is (under clearance). They have a ton of sweaters and hoodies and pants for under twenty bucks (I got some sweaters for 10 dollars and 12 dollars!)

Is the traditional American Dream outdated?

Is it still the dream of most Americans to own your own home, that is, as opposed to renting it?

I was brought up in the belief that renting as ‘throwing your money away’ but I now rent an appartment and I rather like it. And I don’t have to pay the water and garbage bill or mow the lawn! And no property tax. And if I decided to move I wouldn’t have to worry about putting the place up for sale. And if you really want a yard you can rent a house–it’s not like it has to be an appartment.

I could see the big deal about owning your home if you were going to pass your property on to your kids or something like that–but I don’t know anyone who lives in their parent’s old house.

Anyone have thoughts on this–I’m just curious.

Imagine you receive 1 cent for every transaction every American makes. How much would that be?

I not talking about if you had a business, I’m talking about every single American on this land’s 1 cent.

Now, imagine if you had a set sales tax applied to every American transaction instead of 1 cent. How much would that be? How much would you make in a month? And if you’re really smart, how much would you make in a second?

What do we pay taxes for if…

…. the military personal also pay taxes? Could it be the military pays for their own uniforms, weapons, transportation, even their own war? Count how many personnel belong to the military that make transactions everyday, 24 hours a day? The more civilians that join the military, the more money they’ll have for war? Is that why America went into the Great Depression, because America was paying for it’s own war?

What do we pay taxes for if…

…we have our state taxes?

Lastly, what does the Government do with all that money? Answer. Maybe for our future! It’s for all the secret weapons and highly classified war jets. If the B52 Bomber was made fifty years before it came out, what the heck do we have that‘s considered old today? And what the heck would we have fifty years from now that’s considered new?

Or, maybe they use the money for something worse?

Who cares about the Government’s trillion dollar debt. 80% American’s have debt, and some don’t choose to pay it. We never reveal how much many we make, so why would the Government be any different?

So think about it next time you pay taxes for a donuts, gas, earrings, cigarettes. Is it all worth it?

What do realtors do for $$$ when the housing market tanks?

The numbers don’t look too good for sales of homes…and with the american consumer being grossly gouged over the past 5 years with product being so over-priced, is it any wonder that now we get our due, as realtors?

Do I deserve to make a buck off the misery and percieved value to customers? Am I really just a house-pimp?
