There are many things that go into the pre-planning of construction, but the good news is that people do it all the time. Your first step is to contact your local permit office to find out what you need to do first. Many people hire a construction company, and allow the construction company to handle all of the pre-planning and engineering on your behalf- but if you can learn to do some of the leg work, you'll save yourself thousands of dollars. basically you want to find out several things.
