  1. i definitely agree with the defendant. she seems like a very good person – and even said at the end ‘i wish her the best.’ THAT is RARE to hear!

  2. Fuck, what a waste of time. Aren’t people amazingly PETTY. Where were we at the end of this case? Just where we started, what she’d already offered her. Look out the window and GET A LIFE!

  9. Is it because she speaks really slowly, like she has trouble? The defendant did mention an abusive relationship and drugs… I know too much of both can affect speech…

  10. yea it’s because it’s so slow…don’t know why but it just annoys me lol!

  11. 300 euros in the EU for a small apartment?
Is the EU a tiny district within a city where you can easily come up with a value like that?
The price of a 2nd arrondisement Parisian apartment costs the same as an apartment in a tiny, rural Greek village?

  12. oaklandj:its not surprising you dont know where Europe is,let alone our country… anyway, 40 square meters for 300 EUR is quite alot. You dont agree? Well, take care then ;) Also, note the conversion rates between the currencies

  13. It’s not just the pace of her speech, but there’s also something wrong with the pitch or tone. It keeps going up at strange times and it’s annoying the hell out of me too. arghh

i pay €400 a month for a small room(Amsterdam). $300 for an apartment is nothing.

mortgage for any roomy apartment here would be at least €1000.

  16. in a bad city then. or it has small bedrooms, and tiny floor plan.

  17. argghhh. EU = European Union.

My guess is that apartment rents vary depending upon demand. A NY city/ or other big city apartment rental is gonna be mega bucks – especially if it is a nice unit, but an apartment in my town is much, much less. Supply and demand!

  18. Znam gdje je Europa; mama mi je iz tvoga susjeda. Cak i sam putovao preko Slovenije. You really ought to abandon your own idiotic preconceptions about Americans, especially when you think that an apartment costs about the same no matter where you are in the E.U.

  19. Exactly. Lynwis might be surprised that Tito no longer governs Yugoslavia, and apartment rates aren’t set by the government anymore.

  20. They said Northridge State (financial aid papers), that’s near Los Angeles, Calif, an expensive area. Even though this particular area isn’t terribly nice or upscale.

$1000 for at least a 2-bedroom in that area isn’t bad.

  21. Oaklandj made me smile at first, but I think that he meant that within the EU rent must vary very, very widly.

  22. I live in Birmingham in the UK it’s a great area, clean midle class area, my rent is cheap because the council can only charge so much by law. Councils property in the UK is all ways cheaper than private, I have new double glazed windows and door as well as a garden, i just pay £55 per week got a large lounge bedroom kitchen and bathroom. I figure the cost of living is higher in the US sorry chaps

  23. When you talk about your house for £55 / wk, that is a council owned property. The council have sold almost 70% of this housing mostly under the right to buy scheme. There are very few decent areas left with council housing. I have had to go to a private landlord and pay more than double your rent for a 2 bed flat with no garden. I wish the council law applied to private landlords or that the council would build new properties instead of just knocking them down or selling them
